This was the flagship project for the club whose objective was to identify a village within Naivasha environs, identify the needs of that community and find ways of meeting those needs.

Nyamathi village was identified as ideal for this project and among the needs identified for this village were:

• Health Facility
• Secondary School Facility
• Water Supply

With the partnership of the Naivasha Horti Fair, Nelson Clinic London and Children of the Third World, the project was started in 2011. The health facility was renovated and equipped by Nelson Clinic London, the secondary school buildings by the government and NH Fair while the borehole was financed through a matching grant between RC Naivasha and the Rotary Foundation and also doanation from the Children of the Third World, an NGO based in Grand Cannaries.

In 2017, construction for the laboratory for the school was started financed by the Constituency Development Fund and RC Naivasha will equip it at a tune of $4,000 with half of these funds coming from the District 9212 DCA’s kitty. It is projected to be completed by April 2018.

This project has greatly improved the lives of the Nyamathi village with provision of secondary education for the children, health access for the community and especially the maternity care and also access to water.

The rotary club of Naivasha continues to monitor and assist in management of these facilities by having one of its members sitting in the committees that run the facilities and having also established a Rotary Community Corps to assist in continuous overseeing of this project.
